It’s time to face your fears

I hung out with some of my friends some weeks ago, and on my way back home, I got into a stand still traffic on the bridge.

This was so abnormal, as the time was 10: 45pm, and I was expecting that the road would be so free and that I would be home in minutes.

As I stayed on one spot, I began to get restless. I was looking out of my window, trying to find the cause of the traffic. The street hawkers had already gone home, so I could not ask anyone what was happening.

To my right, I noticed that one lane was moving, so I maneuvered to that lane. As I moved to the front, I noticed that the reason they were moving was because they were passing through a road that was under the bridge.

That stopped me on my tracks. I went back to the lane that was not moving and watched as other people were moving.

You know why?

Many years ago, someone told me to never pass through that bridge at night, because there were always armed robbers there.

This was a very long time ago, and the thought flashed back in my head.

I started thinking of all the things that could happen to me if I followed that road.

I started imagining that the robbers will stop me, rob me, kill me, and put me in the boot of the car. I imagined that my sister will wake up in the middle of the night and wonder why I was not back home. She would try to call me and not reach me because my phone would have been dead. In the morning, my parents would start looking for me, and I imagined the worried look on their faces, and how my mother will cry when she will find out that I was dead and locked up in the boot of my car.

Can you imagine? I just sat down in my car and started imagining so many horror stories. I just snapped back into real life. I said to myself, “Stephanie, this is Fear”

When you about to take a step for the first time, fear brings so many negative thoughts to your mind and makes you believe them. Once it gets you to believe them, you don’t take any step. You just stay where you are, you don’t pursue your goals or take the steps to get you out of the situation you are.

At the point I recognized that this was fear, I said aloud to myself, “I am going to pass through that road, and nothing is going to happen to me, in Jesus Name”.

I started my car and zoomed off.

I guess I don’t have to tell you that nothing happened to me. Lol.

I was not robbed and I did not die, neither was I locked in the boot of my car.

I was home in 5 minutes.

When I got home, I just shook my head and laughed aloud to myself, “Fear!!!!!!!!!”

Do you know that, as I was driving under the bridge, I eventually saw the cause of the traffic.

A taxi had run under a trailer. I don’t know how that happened. It was a very ghastly sight, and no other vehicle could pass through the other lane, which was why the traffic was stand still.

In other words, if I had not faced my fears and passed through the other road, I would have slept on the road that night, because LASTMA (Lagos State Traffic Management Authority) would have come to tow the vehicles in the morning.

Face your fears.

Even as I say this, I want to also point out that there is a difference between fear and intuition.

For intuition, let’s say you want to do something, and your mind is just not at peace, you can’t figure out why, but you are just not comfortable doing it. Then don’t do it.

For fear, you want to do something, and you are just imagining horror stories. Those horror stories are false…ignore them and keep moving.

Let’s gist about these horror stories. I have shared mine above, gist me about your own fake horror stories in the comments below.

Please share this post with your friends, and share it on Facebook, Twitter and BB. There are so many people who need to hear this.

Thanks in advance.

Fear is fear. It’s false even though it looks real

The reason why I haven’t been able to achieve some things before now is because of my past fears about the end-time. You know it got so bad that when I got admission to d University, instead of me to be happy and rejoice, I went like “what’s the point, afterall the world would soon end and the certificate would mean nothing” lol.

Awwwww, I remember having that fear in primary school. I thought the world was going to end in the year 2000. Lol. Thank God the fear is gone.
