5 Places to get craft materials in Lagos

craft materials in lagos

Yup! You read that right.

Getting materials is one big step towards creating accessories, and today I decided to share with you my top places to get craft materials in Lagos:

1. Crafties

Crafties was the place I learnt how to make bead accessories. I saw the founder some weeks ago and before I could open my mouth, she said, “Oh I love your Ankara Brooch”. I just laughed out loud and said, “It all started at Crafties oh”. They have a wide collection of tools, books and materials.

I used to spend all my money in this store, lol, and I would spend hours looking through the shelves to find new things that I could try.

Great Place! It is at Ademola Shopping Complex, Ikeja.

2. Balogun Market

Balogun Market is another great place, just get ready to waka. It is a very big market and you need to find the area where they sell what you are looking for, but you can basically get a lot of things here at very affordable prices.

3. Tejuosho Market

This market burnt down, and it currently being renovated. The Lagos State Government is building a  beautiful massive structure, however you can still find the market women (and men) in small stalls around the area, selling their wares. Things here are more expensive than Balogun Market, but it is a great place to go if you need something urgently.

4. Mushin Market

Now, this market is not sexy I know, but you can find unbelievable things here. Just wear a flat pair of shoes and be patient. It is difficult to find parking space, so I used to fly bike all the time, but when they banned bikes in Lagos, it was not funny oh. Lol. Anyway…the things we do for love.

5. Patrick Ayanski

This store is in Surulere, Bode Thomas to be precise, just beside the MTN office. They also stock chiffon Ankara, Stones and exotic trimmings.

Of course there are more places, this is just my top list of places I used to go to because they are close to my house. At ST Colours A-School, we have students from everywhere who tell us where they have gotten their own materials from, and the substitutes they use when they can’t find what exactly they want. This is always exciting to hear.

If you know of any other places, you can share the places with us below in the comments.

Talk to you soon

Steph

There are a lot of places to get materials from in abuja. The popular wuse and garki markets are nice places to start from. However, there are small shops in town where you can get materials to improvise with. Cheers!!!

If you are driving to Mushin, you can park at the filling station beside Union Bank for a fee. I park there anytime I go to Mushin. It’s so convenient. I prefer Lagos market though.

@Tochukwu, you get all you need about bags at shoe site EXCEPT flat foam(Tailoring Section Mainmarket #100 per already cut foam) but you can use what theyu call” MM”(Shoe Site),if you’re asked the particular size, tell them to give you a FLAT one. The onlY thing is that you’ll have to sew it even after applying glue but I have my way around that aspect.
